He has a degree in Human Psychology and History at the University of British Columbia, 2014.
He is also a Senior Digital Designer at Feed Agency, a creative & technology company, with offices across Europe and America . Their clients include eBay, Virgin, Hearst & Betsson.
He finished his degree, and booked a one way ticket to Nepal, spent five months travelling across nine countries. He then began freelance work in graphic design, web design, marketing, and content production.
His Instagram, lukegram, is where he shows most of his personal images.
“Slowly trying to make sense of this planet .70 countries later, I'm still confused”
He uses a Canon 5DSR with 24-70, F2.8 and 720-200 F 2.8.
“An amateur painters canvas will always be more beautiful than a professional who forgot his brushes”.
He travels light, he tries to only pack what is absolutely necessary, also uses as few lenses as possible to save on weight.
He has exhibited in both Europe and USA.
He has had work published in IKEA, Reuters News, and the Daily Mail.
He says he wants to inspire those who view his images to travel and discover the world.
He uses a multiple exposure technique, superimposing two or more images on top of each other to create a single image.
He mixes his photos from his travels with human forms.
He received a disposable camera as a present from his mother when he was a child, visiting his grandfather in northern British Columbia. He spent the time there taking photographs of the countryside around him.
As he grew older, he would travel everywhere with his camera.
This took him down the route of professional photographer.
He began by working freelance selling his prints and writing photographic blogs about his journeys.
He describes photography as the attempt to recreate and convey an emotional and physical retelling of a memory.
He believes a great photographer should captivate you with their work, should surround the viewer with their take on the world.
He likes to photograph people with character.
His style has been influenced by the romanticism era.
He first saw paintings from this era in the Louvre, and has since tried to include the atmosphere in his own work.
His overall style is influenced by -
Martin Rico, 19th century Spanish painter.
Mariano Fortuny, 19th century Spanish fashion designer.
Ranon Marti Alsina, 19th century realist painter.
Carlos de Haes, 19th century Belgian born Spanish painter.
Aureliano de Beruete, 19th century Spanish landscape painter.
Ivan Aivazovsky, 19th century Russian romantic painter.
His photography style is influenced by Steve McCurry, American photographer and photojournalist, known for his image “Afghan girl”, Sharbat Gula, a young An Afghan refugee.
It is the most well known front cover of the National Geographic, taken in 1984.
Gram says he needs to keep moving to stay creative as routines bore him. If this happens, he'll buy a plane ticket to anywhere, and just go.
He enjoys the moment of the photograph, taking the images that he wants, then sitting back and admiring the view.
His dream journey is Antarctica. He's interested in how barren and difficult life would be there.
His favourite subject is mountains, but he also loves using his camera to examine the life within cities, “human jungles”.
He uses drones occasionally to photograph from above.
He sells his images online - lukegram.com On there, he sells images to do with architecture, Astro photography, landscapes, portraits, street scenes, and wildlife
He feels he places more focus on the emotion that an image can stir up, than on the actual composition.
“I believe good design can improve the way we think, the way we act, and the world around us”.

The images have a dreamlike, atmospheric, delicate quality to them. It's easy to tell that he is passionate about his work. The untitled mountain and Bear image shows a snowy mountain range hidden within a bear. Carnivorous bears are synonymous with Canada, with a Grizzly being more likely to be seen there than anywhere else in the world. Black bears are plentiful, 10 times as many as there are Grizzlies. There are also the Kermode bear, a rare, mysterious white "Spirit bear", found in many folktales from the continent. The mountains are the Canadian Rockies, a 75,000 square mile chain that links to the North American Rockies. Gram has used two iconic symbols in his image, that represents who he is, where he's from, and where his heart lies.
The second double exposure is a beautiful, ethereal image of a woman looking down, and within her is a forest, with a mountain range in the distance and a background of clouds. It is tranquil, she comes across as content. perhaps her walk in nature has made her that way.
I like Luke Gram. He packs a lot of feelings into his images, and I'd say many of his own memories. They make me think of my childhood too, walks in the woods, hiding in the barn, playing in the fields.
